(Associate) Researcher In Vivo (full-time)

Scientists at ProQR have invented a new way to use RNA oligonucleotides to alter RNA. The Axiomer® RNA editing technology enables the editing of specific single nucleotides in RNA using the cells own editing machinery. This technology has the potential to become a new class of medicine and treat currently untreatable diseases.

ProQR is currently looking for a (associate) researcher with hands-on experience in animal experiments (mouse) to join the in vivo team, which is responsible for (early) pre-clinical studies to advancethe Axiomer technology.

Location: Leiden, NL.

We expect our (Associate) Researcher In Vivo to have:  

       At least HBO education level (or B.S./BSc) in Biology, Biomedical Sciences or related field with recent 1+ year of hands-on experience with animal (mouse) experiments.

       Art 12/13f2b, 9 or equivalent certificate required to perform animal studies in the Netherlands.

       Experience with basic administration techniques, necropsy procedures, sample collection and processing.

       Experience with design, planning and reporting of mouse studies.

Not required, but advantageous:

       Experience with complex administration techniques (intracerebral), use of anesthesia/analgesia and surgical procedures.

       Experience with writing animal experiment permits (conform Dutch legislation).

Skills and competencies that are required for making the difference:

·       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within and across teams.

·       Excellent and effective communication skills.

·       Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.

·       Excellent knowledge of the principles of the 3Rs.

·       To work in a fast-pace environment on multiple projects (different therapeutic areas) at the same time.

·       To design, plan, execute and document experiments.

·       To develop and document new methods and procedures.

·       To analyze experiment data and to prepare reports using appropriate software packages.

·       To take care of laboratory and sample organization and related administrative tasks.
