ProQR is aiming to capture the vast opportunity that RNA editing and endogenous ADAR recruitment offers. With the strategic imperative to prioritize the Axiomer platform and enhance the internal development pipeline for Axiomer product targets, we are expanding the Axiomer target discovery team: we are looking for the Head New Product Discovery (full-time) to join us at our office in Leiden (NL).

As Head New Product Discovery, you will stay very close to the science and will provide a ‘big picture’ view of the current treatment landscapes, using your knowledge of early and late stage competitor pipelines to strategically influence company decision-making.

Purpose of the role:

  • Applying human genetics in target discovery, target safety and precision RNA editing medicine
  • Contributes to key elements of strategic development for a project within cross-functional teams
  • Sets day-to-day objectives and performs more complex tasks and implements novel procedures
  • Works under limited supervision with a high level of autonomy
  • May supervise others and manage external vendors
  • Proactively investigates and develops improvements to existing processes or develop new and improved basic processes
  • Presents unsolicited ideas to cross-enterprise stakeholders
  • Exchanges information and communicates effectively to reach agreement in ambiguous or sensitive situations
  • Majority of interaction with supervisor and project team members / leaders

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads new Product planning and sets up NPP best practices
  • Identifies new targets for consideration within Axiomer LT by providing an early and objective view of the unmet need, market potential, competitive landscape and risk associated with commercializing drugs
  • Regularly updates Rubric for new targets, updates epi reports for targets in pipeline and provides consistency in evaluation
  • Coordinates in-depth target patient population characterization to aid in: new target identification, target feasibility and market/program valuation and potential licensing opportunities
  • Identifies and assists in tracking of key developments in target scientific fields, therapeutic programs and companies, and conveys latest trends and insights to stakeholders
  • Active participation in Axiomer Leadership Team Meetings
  • International leader in a multi-cultural matrix team with direct functional responsibility for project and new product planning
  • Independently designs and executes projects or analysis with hands-on involvement
  • Writes reports, and makes presentations
  • Collaborates across the enterprise to share results and insights generated
  • Manages diverse workstreams and prioritizes focus by stage of development and company needs

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience hunting for opportunities to demonstrate value within the Pharma and Biopharma Drug Discovery space.
  • Deep experience in the rare disease/gene & RNA editing therapeutic area and demonstrated ability to understand and translate clinical/scientific information is required / strongly preferred
  • BS or equivalent degree in Life Sciences or related field, and minimum of 6 years overall experience in the analytical sciences or drug discovery industry
  • Experience managing projects from inception to completion, including managing to a forecast achievement timeline

Effective communication and presentation skills both written and verbal, with proven ability to influence, work, and communicate effectively with peers. Excellent presentation skills.
