What sparked your passion for science?
I have always been interested in science, biology, and doing research. At ProQR, I am inspired by our mission to edit RNA, treat disease and changes lives. Keeping this in mind motivates me to come to work and keeps me driven every day.
Can you tell us about your role at ProQR?
I work at ProQR as a Senior Researcher in the Biology team. In this team we try to answer fundamental questions related to RNA editing. I also work on establishing the best practices and protocols for generating different cell models and more recently, I joined the Biosafety Officer (BSO) support team. In this role we collaborate with the BSO, to safeguard company policy and to ensure that administration is up to date.
What do you enjoy most about working at ProQR?
ProQR is a very dynamic company, so I am never bored in my work! People are also given a lot of responsibility, so even if you are not an expert in a certain area there are always opportunities to grow and develop yourself.
Are there any upcoming company milestones that you are particularly excited about?
I’m looking forward to the upcoming clinical trials. I’m excited to see the difference we can make for patients!
How do you enjoy spending time outside of work?
In my free time, I love spending quality time with my fiancé, family and friends. We enjoy going out for dinner, cooking together, going on city trips or even just hanging out at home!
Can you tell us about your role as part of the Coffee and Collaboration Café team?
Coffee and Collaboration Café is a monthly event where all ProQRians are invited to gather in the canteen to work and socialise together. Each month, keen bakers bring delicious cakes which everyone can enjoy. There is also a brunch bar and a coffee truck on wheels, whose barista is available all morning serving great quality coffee. The event is a really nice opportunity for employees to interact, have a quick meeting and, since it is at the start of the month, it is a good opportunity for any new ProQRians to get to know their colleagues.
