What sparked your passion for science?
I am a very curious person, and I see science as a powerful tool for better understanding the world around me. I also love to communicate, and in my current role I see myself as a science facilitator, someone who helps connect scientists and foster collaboration.
Can you tell us about your role at ProQR?
My current role as R&D team manager is very cross functional. From allocating resources across various projects and managing budgets to supporting the personal development of my team,, each day brings a new challenge.
What do you enjoy most about working at ProQR?
The office atmosphere at ProQR is really special - it is a place where people can be themselves. I think that this allows people to bring the best version of themselves to work to perform to their highest potential. Another thing I value about ProQR is the fast pace and the ‘just do it’ attitude. Things move fast and you see a lot of changes in a short time, all while maintaining scientific quality and integrity.
Are there any upcoming company milestones that you are particularly excited about?
I am very excited about moving into the clinic with our Axiomer RNA editing technology platform. It’s a really exciting time for the company.
Can you tell us about your role in the DEI team?
I joined the DEI team just over a year ago because I wanted to contribute in a way that’s not only fun and social, but that also creates impact beyond my direct line of management. As R&D team manager, I am heavily involved in recruiting new ProQRians, and I want to help maintain the inclusive environment at ProQR so that we can continue to attract diverse talent from all backgrounds.
How do you enjoy spending time outside of work?
In my free time I love to spend time with my two children and family. Traveling is another big passion of mine, and I hope to share that love for exploring the world with my children. Otherwise, I enjoy baking and decorating and staying active by doing Pilates.
