Seda Employee Profile

What sparked your passion for science?

I have always been curious about how biology works at the molecular level. I chose to study molecular biology where I discovered the interesting world of DNA, RNA and protein and how subtle changes in these can lead to profound effects on health and disease. Through this, I discovered more about the potential of genetic engineering – not only as a way to understand biology, but also as a tool to intervene and develop new therapeutic strategies.

Can you tell us about your role at ProQR?

In my role as Senior Director, Research Strategy and Innovation, I identify and evaluate emerging scientific and therapeutic opportunities aligned with our company strategy. I serve as a strategic advisor to the scientific organization, translating external insights and innovation trends into actionable recommendations.

What do you enjoy most about working at ProQR?

One of the habits of ProQR that resonates with me is, “I act in the interests of patients.” It reflects the genuine commitment shared by everyone here. Across the organization, people approach their work with a strong sense of responsibility, efficiency and purpose. Collaboration is also a core strength at ProQR and it is a natural part of how we operate.  I also like ProQR’s unique culture where everyone is seen and heard and there is a strong foundation of transparency and trust at all levels.

Are there any upcoming company milestones that you are particularly excited about?

I am very excited to see that our Axiomer RNA editing technology has advanced into the clinic. It represents years of dedicated work in selecting, optimizing, and developing the most effective editing oligonucleotides. This progression reflects the incredible innovation happening across the company and I am proud that my team has played a central role in bringing Axiomer into the clinic

How do you enjoy spending time outside of work?

Outside of work I enjoy maintaining a balanced and active lifestyle. I do a mixture of  strength training, yoga, Pilates and outdoor sports in nature. I like dancing, especially Latin dances, and when I’m not being active I love watching movies. Also, as a family, we try to travel to at least two new places each year. It is really special to discover new places together with my kids.
