At ProQR we strive to create an inclusive culture where everyone is valued for who they are and individual differences and contributions are recognized and appreciated. Therefore, we decided for this Pride Month June 2022, to visually demonstrate our support and acknowledgment of the LGBTQ+ community by changing our logo to the pride rainbow flag.
What is Pride Month?
Pride Month is observed in June all over the world as June marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in the US in 1969. During these riots the LGBT+ community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender), particularly those of color, fought back against police harassment and discrimination. This revolution and necessary change could not have been possible without important figures in queer history such as Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, or Stormé DeLarverie and could have not continued without the contribution of the thousands of LGBTQ+ people who are still fighting to achieve and maintain rights and inclusion in society.
Pride at ProQR
Pride month at ProQR is an opportunity to celebrate and thank all of the LGBT+ people in our communities, including our employees, scientists, and doctors that made our research possible. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive company where everyone feels welcome, heard, and safe to be themselves.
We believe it is important to build a safe workplace, not only for those living out and proud, but also for those who are still in their journey of self acceptance.
