ProQR celebrates European Diversity Month Embracing Diversity: Why it Matters

As a mission-driven company dedicated to changing lives by developing RNA therapies for severe rare and common diseases. ProQR recognizes the importance of advancing diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) in the workplace to inspire each employee to fully thrive and to make their maximum contribution to ProQR.

One of the aspects that ProQRians take immense pride in is our DEI, where all employees feel empowered to embrace differences and express themselves authentically. ProQRians represent 29 different nationalities and regularly celebrate these cultures through specific events in the company. 

Every May from 2020, the European Union celebrates European Diversity Month to promote efforts in building equal and inclusive environments for the benefit of all. With the occasion of celebrating Diversity Month, we want to reflect on the value of diversity in our workplace and community, while sharing insights into the landscape of diversity present in ProQR.

Established in 2020 ProQR has worked hard to establish our in-house DEI group, which consists of several passionate ProQRians along with both HR and Management Team representatives. The second half of 2023 consisted of our active participation in the Leiden Pride Canal event in September, which was well received by the local community along with ProQRians. By externally showing that we are an open and inclusive workplace, we hope to attract diverse and talented future ProQRians to continue contributing to our important mission.

This Diversity Month let's recommit ourselves to fostering an inclusive culture where every voice is heard, and every perspective is valued. Let's continue to learn from one another, challenge our assumptions, and build a more equitable future, both within our organization and beyond.
